The idea for Gearance didn't come about overnight—it evolved over many years. I realized early on: I simply can't leave things in their standard state. That doesn't mean that standard products are bad—they're just not perfect for me. But let's start from the beginning.

Even as a teenager, I knew that an off-the-shelf bike was out of the question. I bought individual parts—a different fork, different rims, a different handlebar—and built my bike the way I wanted. The exact same thing happened with my second computer: No preconfigured version convinced me, so I assembled the components myself and built my PC entirely according to my ideas.

So it was only logical that my first car after getting my driver's license didn't stay in stock condition. While training as an automotive mechatronics technician, I began modifying and improving vehicles—in short, optimizing them.

After a few years in the profession, I became a master mechanic and studied business administration. Finally, a unique opportunity arose: I got a job in motorsport – with Volkswagen's successful rally team. There, I truly understood what "optimization" means in the best sense: not simply replacing parts, but developing each individual component to precisely meet the requirements. Not compromise, but custom work.

During this time, I also discovered my passion for chainsaws. At first, I bought broken saws and repaired them. But it didn't stop there – I quickly developed the desire to customize and improve them. From new color schemes to performance optimization, I did everything.

However, because there were hardly any high-quality accessories available at reasonable prices, I taught myself how to design in CAD – and developed my first own stop claws. It took months of setbacks and late nights until I achieved a result that met my requirements.

And yes, the visual idea may have already existed elsewhere. But my products are not copies. They are specifically designed for the requirements of European forests—well-thought-out, robust, and unique.

Today, Gearance is my platform to share this passion with others: Custom parts that not only look good but also work – for everyone who, like me, says:

“Series condition is just the beginning.”
